Introduction
Founded in 1908, Lamaignere is a global freight transportation company with a presence in more than a dozen countries. The company has earned the trust and reputation among its clients in key countries such as Spain, Chile, Mexico, USA, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, China, the United Arab Emirates, Panama, Colombia, and Uruguay, among others.
Lamaignere offers integrated logistics solutions through its team of experts, all of whom have extensive experience providing services to the aerospace and solar energy industries, as well as to various infrastructure supply sectors. Lamaignere also develops custom-made solutions to customer-specific projects to accommodate all transportation modes.
Since Lamaignere handles sensitive, high-value goods subject to specific environmental parameters, the company deemed it necessary to obtain real-time visibility over its shipment—so they would know immediately if anything happened with its cargo. According to Pablo Blanco, Shipments Monitoring System Coordinator at Lamaignere, “We needed to know quickly if there was an issue with a shipment—and where it happened. It’s about ensuring that the cargo arrives in perfect condition.”
Previously, Lamaignere tracked shipments with whatever tools were provided by the carrier or the driver. “You had to trust what they told you about whether the goods were in one place or another,” said Blanco. That was unacceptable, and the company turned to Tive. The change meant moving from a reactive approach about the status and health of the goods to a proactive one.
Real-Time Alerts Help Save the Day
In 2022, Lamaignere started using Tive Solo 5G trackers, and the team was so pleased with the results that the program quickly expanded. According to Blanco, nearly all groups within Lamaignere use Tive because the system is integrated across the entire company. “It’s not just me using Tive. Every shipment uses this method of tracking, and everyone in the company knows about the benefits of Tive—and how well it works.”
Using Tive to monitor shipments represents a paradigm shift for Lamaignere, and it paid off: the rate of accidents for air shipments has been reduced by 20%. When Blanco receives new shipments from clients, he uses the Tive cloud platform to configure the routes, and designates specific alerts depending on the type of cargo: location, shock, temperature, light, humidity—whatever the customer requires.
Says Blanco, “I always ask what kind of alerts they want. Depending on their needs, I configure the shipment and keep an eye on it in the Tive platform—just to make sure nothing goes wrong. I also monitor the notifications when the shipments arrive at their destinations.” Blanco says that the most requested alert types are real-time tracking, impact, and occasionally temperature—for cargo that needs to remain within specific parameters.
Delivering Outstanding Customer Service—Every Time
At Lamaignere, providing outstanding service to their customers is critical. Tive ensures that Lamaignere is able to deliver high levels of service, which is tremendously valuable to Blanco and his team. “We always strive to provide excellent service to our clients,” adds Blanco. “Tive enables us to offer something extra in terms of tracking—something that not all companies in our field have, which gives us a competitive advantage. Tive gives full visibility into the location and condition of goods, and allows for constant monitoring—which is quite effective and essential.”
After Blanco creates a shipment in the Tive platform, he shares a link with his customers so they can also track their cargo. According to Blanco, his clients value this high level of visibility—and feel at ease observing the progress of their shipments. In addition, the Lamaignere team has the capacity to prepare customized reports for them.
Says Blanco, “It gives our clients a bit more control over their cargo during transit, especially if the cargo is likely sensitive. If something happens, the final report may show—for example—that there was an impact event, and they can use that information to make a claim with their insurance company.”
Protecting a Wide Variety of Cargo
In addition to aerospace, solar energy clients, and infrastructure supply sectors, Lamaignere provides custom-made projects designed to accommodate all modes of transportation. “We ship mainly military materials, but we have also shipped medical shipments—including refrigerated medical supplies,” says Blanco.
One Lamaignere pharmaceutical client used Tive to check whether the goods were arriving at the correct destination—because they couldn’t tell exactly where it was going. “Thanks to Tive, they discovered that the shipment was headed to the wrong location, and they were able to take corrective action and save the shipment,” says Blanco.
Blanco also appreciates being able to tweak a tracker’s settings while a shipment is in transit. Once cargo reaches a point where Blanco wants more frequent measurements, he can easily modify the transmission and measurement settings in the platform.
“If you have valuable cargo and want to keep it under constant control during transport—to ensure that nothing happens to it—I highly recommend using Tive.”
